He carried the elf to his tent, surprised at how light she was in his arms, as fast as he dared, fearing that, should he disturb the arrows, he would cause his precious cargo’s death. He had nearly had a panic attack when he initially picked her up, the elf sighing heavily and relaxing into his strong arms. The unfortunate happenstance had taken place recently, last winter. The sun had just come up, gracing the once dark desert with the promise of a sappingly hot day, the usual.
And amidst the dunes, out of the way of any civil civilization, sat an oasis. Lush trees and shrubbery surrounded a small lake, and nestled within the foliage was a tent. And just as the sun's first rays peeked through the branches of the palms, the front flap of said tent was swooshed aside, a short, lean figure stepping out into the early morning.
